If you’re looking to get away and have some fun, Thailand might be the solution.
Bangkok is a great place to go if you’re looking for a little revenge travel. You can hit all the top spots while getting away from your normal routine. It’s an amazing city with lots of history and culture, so it’s sure to keep you entertained for as long as you want.
You can even stay in an Airbnb apartment instead of a hotel room, which will give you more space and privacy than most hotels give.
There are also many different ways to get from one place to another—whether it’s by subway or airplane, or even by walking! There are numerous activities available for people who want to get out of their comfort zone and try something new like sky diving or rock climbing! This can be an exciting way for travelers who aren’t into staying at hotels because they might not know where else to go when they get bored with what they’ve already done on vacation.
I was sure of the things I want from Thailand when we planned our vacation and booked that flight last May 2022 after that stressful national elections. We had all the list of itinerary and dishes we are willing to try this September, except we forgot to buy Thailand Baht.
I, together with two friends traveled five hours from Baguio City to Terminal 3 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Pasay City and got there at least three hours before our boarding time. We had ample time to roam around the terminal, enjoyed the meals we can, and talk about things with friends.
We paid for the Philippine travel tax, checked in, and passed through the immigration counter smoothly then realized, we (two of us) do not have enough cash for the whole duration of the trip. (No ATM after Immigration counters).
We then decided to withdraw from any ATM near our Hotel in Bangkok and just pay for an international processing fee (which we know would cost more than 200 Baht). Luckily, our jetsetter friend had some USD readied.
After an hour drive from Don Mueang International Airport (old airport) we proceeded to our Hotel called Miami Hotel in Sukhumvit soy 13. The booking was under my name. I gave my card to the front desk clerk and she was having a hard time processing the payment. I was told that the 1st card was declined, so is the 2nd and 3rd, we decided to borrow cash from our friend.
The first thing we did the next day was to withdraw from the nearest ATM in our hotel and got the same bad news. We went around more than five ATMs from all directions in search of a working machine for Philippine Cards but it was not our lucky day. We were saved by our friend with his stack of cash for our first meals and shopped items.
We needed to replace our friend’s cash. I took out my wallet and looked for my cards, there I saw my Maya card (Visa) and tried it the first time (in Bangkok). Few seconds after feeding that machine and pressed on buttons I could not understand (in Thai), it dispensed my first Baht within seconds. Our smiles were from ear-to-ear; it is as if we won the lottery.
After spending the Thai Baht cash, we were confident of going to any ATM as long as we use our Maya card! It is indeed the best travel partner anywhere in the world! We also tried paying using our Maya card and it was smooth!

You can also visit shopping malls like Siam Paragon, Asoke BTS Skytrain Station or Chatuchak Weekend Market where you can find lots of souvenirs for your loved ones.
